Real Dogs, Real Results

Every dog comes to us for a different reason. Here's how the slatmill is helping three of our regulars — in their own very different ways.

Buddy
BreedBeagle Age10 years BackgroundRescue FocusFitness & freedom

The challenge: Buddy loves nothing more than running flat out, but he's reactive, so group walks aren't right for him — and his owner's disability makes regular access to an enclosed field difficult to manage alone.

The approach: Once a week, Buddy gets a private space all to himself, where he can go as fast as he likes with zero risk to him or anyone else.

The progress: He's shedding some extra weight and staying fit as a senior dog — but more than anything, he gets to do the one thing he loves most, completely off the hook.

“Buddy my 10 year old beagle absolutely loves his Friday gym day, it helps to get rid of his excess energy, keeps him fit and probably makes him feel younger. I have high praise for Susie at Fast & Furry-Us and would recommend them.

Julie, and of course Buddy”
Ellie
BreedGolden Retriever Age5 years BackgroundRescue FocusConfidence & stamina

The challenge: Ellie had a rough start in life, and it left her deeply nervous. When she first joined, running simply wasn't on the table — every session started from trust, not fitness.

The approach: No pressure, no rushing — just positive reinforcement, session after session, entirely at Ellie's own pace.

The progress: Running still isn't on the table — and eight months on, we honestly don't know when, or if, that day will come. That's okay. What we can tell you is the journey onto the slatmill itself: it started with a half-lift on, which became Ellie scrambling up by herself, and this week, for the first time, she JUMPED on entirely on her own. It's only happened the once so far, but it's exactly the kind of steady progress we're working towards.

Kona
BreedBelgian Malinois Age8 months FocusDrive & confidence

The challenge: Malinois are bred to work, and Kona is no exception — sharp, driven, and quick to get bored without a proper job to do. She's also still young, and still figuring out how confident she is in the big wide world.

The approach: Regular 30-minute sessions on the slatmill give her exactly what a working breed needs: a real task, real effort, and a safe way to burn off that intensity.

Where she's at: Kona's brand new to the pack, so we don't have results to share just yet — check back soon to see how she's getting on.
